”EYE ON THE BALL”

ORIGINAL, BY: SOPHIE SLOTNIK 8/26/24

A surreal disruption of perception, where the game is no longer just about skill, but about who or what is watching.

This piece challenges the boundaries of what belongs where merging the organic with the inanimate in a way that unsettles yet intrigues. By embedding watchful eyes with the pool balls, the artwork transforms a simple game into something surreal, breaking the viewer's expectation of what should fit within. The classic symbolism of keeping one’s “eyes on the ball” is a twist here, making us as viewers question: are we watching the game, or is it watching us?
